Introduction

Congratulations! You have been selected to be the beta tester for a graphics program that will be used by school kids all over the US. Your input could affect the education of thousands of kids just like you.

Because of your intelligence and creativity, you make the perfect candidate to test this software.

The Task

The first thing you have to do to become a beta tester is install the program. Click here to install.

Your job is to play around with the tool and create some graphics. That sounds simple enough.

The Process

Before creating any of your own artwork, study some of the work of M.C. Escher. Here are a few links: That should get your creative juices flowing, or else, scare you a little. You may be wondering, "How can I create anything like that?" Don't worry this tool will help you.

When using this program, be sure to try out the following features:

  1. Drawing with circles.
    • move the slider to try different number of sectors
    • check and uncheck the mirror to see how it changes your drawing
  2. Drawing on a box
    • try changing the width and height of the box by using the sliders
    • try with the offset checked an unchecked
  3. Try picking different colors and line thicknesses
  4. Try mixing colors in the custom palette area
  5. Draw freehanded and with lines, then try filling in some areas with color

Evaluation

When you have some good images saved, email them to Jay. Be sure to send any suggestions or personal experiences as well.

Conclusion

Now that you have developed some neat graphics, what are you going to do with them? Send them to your friends, post them on Facebook, make some cards for your parents or grandparents? I bet you have other ideas as well.
